Sandustry Artifacts: Finding Rooms and Claiming Rewards
Artifacts are usually rewards inside deliberate puzzle rooms, not items located by memorizing fixed coordinates. Follow room clues, use the interaction your tools support, and return later when a puzzle requires another unlock.
Find deliberate Artifact rooms
Artifacts appear as rewards in intentionally designed underground rooms. Look for arrows, symmetry, unusual blocks, contained Water, burnable barriers, or an object placed beyond a visible obstacle. These structural clues are more dependable than coordinates from another save.
Generated map layouts change where a room appears. A video may show Copper, a cave boundary, or an Artifact at the bottom of one specific world, but that does not create a universal route. Explore methodically and record discovered rooms that cannot yet be solved.
Read the material and tool clues
Frostbed above Water indicates a freezing interaction: break the Frostbed, let Snow reach the Water, and cross the resulting Ice. A dark maze calls for the Flashlight and deliberate backtracking. A responsive burnable barrier should be tested with the Flamethrower.
Some rooms are gated by later tools. If the current equipment does nothing, preserve the room and return after more research instead of excavating every wall. The source guidance treats revisiting as normal progression.
Use the Locator as progression allows
The collected Artifact footage references a Locator used later to help find Artifacts. It reduces blind searching but does not turn every room into a fixed coordinate guide. Follow the device’s current in-game behavior and then solve the local material puzzle.
Do not assume the Locator replaces exploration or the required tool. A detected reward can still be separated by Water, darkness, or a locked interaction. Prepare the likely utility tools before traveling deep underground.
Claim and confirm the reward
Interact with the Artifact after reaching it and verify that the reward is recorded. Artifacts provide Augments associated with movement, utility items, or related permanent improvements in the collected guide material. Opening the room without claiming the object is not completion.
Individual runs show specific Augments and progress toward later effects, but their sequence is not proven universal. Avoid mapping one reward to every room of a similar shape. The current save’s reward notification is the reliable record.
Avoid false universal locations
Steam discussions and videos often answer a player using one seed or one map boundary. Those reports are useful examples of how rooms can appear, not authoritative coordinates for all players. The same caution applies to resource landmarks used to describe a route.
A complete achievement guide in the collected sources confirms broader single-player milestones, but it does not establish a fixed Artifact atlas. Keep Artifact guidance focused on repeatable room mechanics. Do not add invented counts, room names, or reward values.
The practical loop is simple: explore, recognize deliberate geometry, mark inaccessible rooms, return with the right tool, and confirm the Augment. This process remains valid when positions change. It also prevents a single outdated video from becoming a misleading map guide.
