Raw Lava cannot be carried by a Grabber or sent through ordinary pipes. Convert it to Scoria with Snow, break the Scoria into Cinder, move the solid material, and ignite it with the Flamethrower when Lava is needed again.

Know what raw Lava can and cannot do

Lava is a liquid with a listed density of 75 in the collected official material. It appears in deeper underground areas and can be exposed while opening caves, ice, or surrounding stone. Generated maps vary, so a coordinate from one world is not a universal location.

Raw Lava cannot be carried with the Grabber and does not travel through the standard Pump-and-Pipe network. It can be held behind suitable filters or solid containment. Treat every newly opened pocket as an uncontrolled liquid until the surrounding edges have been inspected.

Use Snow and Water for different reactions

Snow contacting Lava produces Scoria. Breaking Scoria creates Cinder, a solid that normal logistics can transport. Applying the Flamethrower directly to Cinder turns it back into Lava at the destination.

Water contacting Lava becomes Steam, and the official material states that this particular reaction does not decrease the Lava amount. That makes a stable Lava surface useful for Steam production when Water delivery and gas containment are controlled. Snow and Water should not be mixed carelessly because Ice and solid debris can block the intended chamber.

Transport the solid form

To relocate Lava, freeze the needed amount with Snow, break the resulting Scoria, and collect the Cinder. Conveyors, Launchers, the Grabber, and other solid-material routes can then carry Cinder. Rebuild a sealed receiving basin before using the Flamethrower to restore it.

Passive nearby heat is not documented as a substitute for the direct Flamethrower conversion. Test a small amount before filling the destination. Keep spare Cinder outside the hot area so a leak or accidental reaction does not consume the complete movable reserve.

Build containment before ignition

Inspect the basin at corners and transitions between structures because a single open pixel can release flowing Lava. Extra height gives the liquid somewhere to settle without reaching the top. Filters can form controlled boundaries, but their orientation and material behavior still need a small test.

Thermal Buffers in direct contact with Lava may slowly consume it according to the collected official notes. Water-to-Steam contact is different and does not reduce Lava through that reaction. Separate direct heating hardware from the Steam surface when preserving the source matters.

Use Lava as a controlled process input

Lava supplies heat for burning and temperature-based production, and it can help create Steam. It also appears in exploration spaces and puzzle-like environments. None of those uses justify routing an open stream through the center of a mixed factory.

Place heat production in a dedicated chamber with accessible shutoff points and visible outputs. Keep Cinder transport outside the final basin until the receiving area is ready. If a process needs only heat, use the smallest proven contact area instead of exposing a large reservoir.

There is no verified ordinary pipe route for Lava and no collected vanilla recipe that creates unlimited new Lava. The reusable Water-to-Steam reaction should not be confused with Lava duplication. Any design that claims otherwise needs evidence beyond the sources provided for this page.
